Henley Hornets Softball 4-12 Marist Catholic
The road proved challenging for Henley as the Hornets dropped their softball season opener 12-4 to Marist Catholic on Tuesday. The non-league matchup marked the beginning of what promises to be a competitive campaign for the Hornets, who faced an established Marist Catholic program in their first test of 2024.
Despite the loss, Henley showed they could generate offense against quality pitching, plating four runs in the contest. The Spartans, however, capitalized on their opportunities throughout the game to pull away with eight additional runs.
The season-opening road trip provided valuable experience for a Henley squad looking to build chemistry and establish their identity early in the year. Non-league games like this offer important preparation for Sky-Em League play, allowing coaches to evaluate strengths and identify areas for improvement.
The Hornets will look to bounce back quickly as they continue their early-season schedule. With plenty of softball left to play, Henley has ample opportunity to develop the consistency needed for a successful campaign ahead.
