St. Helens defeated Henley 9-1 in a non-league softball matchup Friday night at St. Helens. The Hornets from Klamath Falls, Oregon, who compete in the Skyline Conference (4A), struggled offensively in the road contest against their Class 5A opponents. Henley managed just one run against St. Helens pitching, while the Lions built a commanding lead throughout the game. The loss was a rare setback for the Hornets, who had been playing strong softball heading into the late-season non-conference test. Despite the lopsided result, Henley maintains an impressive 17-6 overall record and remains undefeated in Skyline Conference play at 12-0. The non-league loss won't impact the Hornets' standing in their own classification as they continue to focus on their conference championship goals. With the regular season winding down, Henley will look to bounce back quickly from this road defeat and refocus on their league competition as they prepare for the upcoming postseason.
